Rhode Island Department of Education’s Advanced Coursework Network is a network of Rhode Island public secondary schools who offer opportunities to students interested in getting a head start on post-secondary success.
IYRS is excited to offer Introduction to Digital Modeling & Fabrication to Rhode Island high school juniors & seniors as part of the Advanced Course Network.
Introduction to Digital Modeling & Fabrication
Introduction to Digital Modeling & Fabrication joins industrial design with manufacturing through computer-aided design (CAD) and the use of additive (3D Printing) and subtractive (machining) material conversion processes. These tools allow students to translate design concepts to digital modeling and on to physical objects. In this course, students are introduced to the concept of the design, 3D modeling & additive (3D printing) & subtractive (CNC milling) output. Through a series of integrated projects, students are taught the fundamental skills associated with these concepts then asked to explore and experiment in an iterative fashion.
