The Digital Modeling & Fabrication program at IYRS is a technical skill-building platform for the modern maker or manufacturer. The extra-disciplinary curriculum gives students the opportunity to engage in design thinking, prototyping & fabrication. The DM&F Build Studio, equipped with cutting-edge additive technologies (such as 3D printers) & subtractive technologies (such as CNC machines), provides students access to hands-on learning in an effort to execute projects from start to finish.
Capstone Project Presentations & Design Critique
IYRS students, staff and faculty recently gathered for the final day of the Digital Modeling & Fabricaton program, where students presented their capstone project processes end-to-end, sharing design and manufacturing challenges & successes along the way, and ultimately presenting all they learned through the process of conceptualizing, designing and prototyping a product.
Following the presentations, students immediately went off to fulfill the final 150 hours of the program through an off-site externship. Students worked throughout the semester with the Career Services department to research and identify companies of interest who may help them apply their learning in a professional environment. IYRS is grateful and appreciative of the following companies who are currently hosting IYRS students on externship.

Clear Carbon and Components (C3) has diverse client base servicing industries such as military, medical, alternative energy, transportation, musical and consumer products. The company specializes in creating feature components for other manufacturers and wholesale distributors. they service their customers on time, in spec and on budget. It uses its expertise with a wide range of materials and fabricating techniques such as pre-preg, vacuum bag, compression molding, vacuum infusion, VARTM and Contoured Pultrusion Process (CPP) to create complex 3D forms.
Founded in 1960, EBM was strictly a machine shop. Over time, it evolved into a precision products manufacturing facility. We are committed to supplying precision components that fully satisfy our customer’s requirements. It all starts with negotiating a purchase order with our customer. We then manufacture a complete product from fabrication all the way to packing and shipping. If our customer is concerned about inventory costs, we will work with them by establishing sales agreement purchase orders. We utilize the “Just-In Time” (JIT) system for customers’ ever-changing demands. EBM will produce and stock finished products, releasing them as needed within days, not weeks.
