“IYRS has found a great working model, reaching out continuously to its industry partners to find out where things are going, not just what projects are in process.” – Hall Spars

Sudents and staff at iyrs career day

Students that study at IYRS School of Technology & Trades join us because they are passionate about working with their hands, learning about advanced technology and are serious about getting the right training. IYRS graduates are reliable and hard-working team players that have an ability to solve problems and think critically due to their formal training that is backed by industry. IYRS graduates are ready to make immediate contributions when they are hired.

IYRS values our relationship with industry and therefore offers many different opportunities to get involved:

As an experiential learning school, we believe that externships are an important and final stage in preparing graduates for successful careers. Companies who take on IYRS interns such as TPI Composites, Brewer Yacht Yards, and Cay Electronics agree, as more than half of our externships lead to job offers. Composites Technology & Marine Systems students are on internship in February & August. Boatbuilding & Restoration students are on internship in July.

We have a very strong alumni network and industry partners can post jobs with IYRS that will be sent out exclusively to our community.
