The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for the timely and accurate processing of disbursements for IYRS and its subsidiaries including a restored historical building in accordance with company policies and procedures.   Maintaining the overall integrity and quality of vendor, student and donor information will be of upmost importance.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Processing and posting disbursements / accounts payable transactions
  • Processing and posting payroll
  • Primary contact for vendors
  • Purchase order processing
  • Manage credit card charges
  • Prepare and make bank deposits
  • Manage specific compliance matters such as Charitable Registration
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly reconciliations, financial closings and reporting
  • Other ad hoc related duties and projects as assigned


In supporting General Office operations responsibilities:

  • Perform general administrative duties to include filing, incoming/outgoing mail processing
  • Maintain merchandise and program inventory
  • Coordinate office equipment: maintenance, service & supplies for printers/copiers, postage machine, telephone system and general office supplies
  • From time to time, screen telephone calls and visitors, resolve routine and complex inquires


In supporting other departments, such as for example, Development, responsibilities may include tasks and projects for executing events such as the Gala or Classic Yacht Regatta. Other ad hoc related duties and projects may be assigned.

From time to time, additional time will be required on week nights and weekends to support student and organizational activities such as Launch/Graduation Day, Annual Gala, Classic Yacht Regatta and other events.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs – strong Excel skills a must
  • Initiative and drive with excellent analytic skills
  • Self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Strong communications skills both verbal and written

About Admissions

The Admissions team, collaborating with the Marketing team, introduces our visitors to the IYRS experience. Whether it is online, on campus, or in the middle of an industry event, the Admissions and Marketing teams are responsible for accurately illustrating the history, future, programming, and potential outcomes for prospective IYRS students, industry partners, or a wide range of influencers who may affect the engagement between IYRS and an individual or entity. The ultimate goals are twofold: deepen the public’s understanding of the IYRS experience and convert prospective students to enrolled students. Looking forward, the Admissions Representative will significantly impact the school’s projected growth between 2018 and 2020 as we expand programming and partnerships!

The Admissions Representative will facilitate the admissions process from end-to-end. Day-to-day this means the development and deployment of informational materials as well as multi-directional communications with various constituents. The Admissions Representative reports to the Director of Admissions & Marketing.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop expertise in our areas of programming and industries of application
  • Develop and implement admissions strategies aimed at increasing prospective student applications and enrollment
  • Coordinate the recruitment schedule, including registration, travel, and accommodations
  • Coordinate on-campus recruitment events
  • Counsel prospective students throughout the admissions process, including enrollment procedures
  • Communicate with prospective students and influencers via the applicant tracking system (HubSpot), email, phone, and in person
  • Administer admissions interviews
  • Coordinate with Student Services and Finance to support accepted students’ enrollment processes
  • Develop relationships with high school counselors, post-secondary counselors, veteran liaisons, industry representatives, alumni and other constituents
  • Maintain accurate data via the applicant tracking system, Hubspot
  • Improve systems for prospective student data, including prospective student files
  • Contribute to marketing material design and content
  • Support organizational initiatives as assigned by the Director of Admissions
  • Must be available for overnight travel as well as evening and weekend events


Must Have:

  • Natural curiosity and passion for improvement

  • Experience in admissions, sales, customer service, or relatable field
  • Exceptional communication skills via phone, email, and in-person
  • Ease presenting to large groups and a knack for keeping them engaged

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and an eagerness to leverage technology

Mobile Maker Lab (MML) Program Lead + Instructor

Supervisor: Director of Learning Platforms or Appointed Alternative


The Program + Instructor Lead will be a full-time Manager of the MML.  The core responsibilities include maintaining and operating the MML, developing curriculum & delivering MML experiences. As a part of curriculum development, the Program + Instructor Lead will continue to standardize delivery of MML experience in keeping with the IYRS teaching method, emphasizing hands-on, project-based learning.

The Program + Instructor Lead  should continue to expand market visibility, manage existing MML partnerships and pursue new partnerships throughout Rhode Island.

The Program + Instructor Lead  will represent MML within the IYRS organization, collaborate with other teams throughout IYRS including marketing, admissions & on-campus programs. The Program + Instructor Lead  will report MML performance as needed to IYRS Leadership & other stakeholders and maintain a strategic plan for continued expansion & growth.


  • Working under the guidance of the Director of Learning Platforms, or appointed alternative,  develop, document & standardize MML Learning Matrix, including outcomes, lesson plans & delivery methods
  • Develop, manage & implement delivery of MML Learning Modules contained in the Matrix
  • Ensure consistent high quality delivery of MML experience to a range of constituents from high school faculty and students through adults
  • Develop & manage MML lead list including new & existing clients
  • Work with overall team to build visibility of both MML and IYRS
  • Day-to-day management of MML team members
  • Actively collaborate with various MML teams: marketing, admissions, etc
  • Responsible for budgeting, equipment/tooling, physical plant, etc.
  • Function as Lead Instructor with other part-time instructors; delegate responsibility as required.
  • Manage continued expansion of MML market through close association with Marketing Department
  • Develop 24 month strategic plan
  • Provide data and reporting as needed to meet funder requirements
